Safe Play This Independence Day

With Fourth of July weekend coming up, one thing that commemorates the holiday is fireworks. While honoring the independence of our nation in such a fashion is fun, it's important that we are staying safe while lighting fireworks off.

First off, children should never be allowed to light off fireworks, of any kind. It is dangerous and unsafe. Only adults who know how to properly light them should have them in their possession.

It is also important that you light fireworks one at a time and step back immediately once they are set.

On average, 230 people are admitted to an emergency room each day with firework related injuries around the Fourth of July holiday. Do what you can to avoid being an addition to this statistic.

Above all, remember to have fun! Just make sure you are doing it in a safe environment.
